Scenario Background -­
        Jan 12, 2091 
        K.L. Srik founds outpost just south of north pole for research,
development, and testing of Atomic weapons. It was situated there because 
of the high-risk in this field of an atomic explosion during the course of
development. Its purpose was to develope an atomic bomb compact enough to
be undetectable by any long range means such as radar, sonar, or others, in
order that 1) a whole country(enemy) could be bombed and destoryed before
it had a chance to retaliate, 2) they could actually be snuck into an
otherwise heavily protected area(carefully).
 
        Feb 24, 2098
        Prototype compact atomic weapon #001 reported finished, ready for
testing.

        Mar 15, 2098
        prototype compact atomic weapon #001 reputedly tested. Unknown if it
actually was. Dr. Ken Stark, biochemistry advisor, was found above ground
with lacerations, bruises, and feeble respiration 2.3 miles from underground
test site by incoming chopper. Pilot immediately flew him to nearest hospital,
many hours away. After regaininig consciousness, he managed to inform an agent
of complication in testing of #001 that managed to wipe out all life-forms
within outpost at the time of explosion.

        Mar 30, 2098
        Survey plane flew over outpost. Reported it to be a 'wasteland'. Also 
reported unusual life-forms and preceeded to take samples. No humans were
found.

        Mar 31, 2098
        Sample life-forms analyzed. Concluded they are 'mutant'. Juctured 
that the atomic weapon had unintended effect of rearranging atoms subtly
in all matter nearby. Life-forms changed instantly. Most died. Some didn't.
Further research suspended. Outpost remains deserted and is restricted.

        Jul 6, 2098
        Temperture within 20 mile radius of Atomic Wasteland(outpost) has
gone up 56 degrees fahrenheit. Radius is increasing. Temperture is
increasing. Masses of ice are melting to water. Reason unknown. Range unknown.
Consequence if not stopped: at current accelerating melting rate, within 0.9
years enough will have melted to raise sea level substantially enough to
drown many coastal citys.

        Jul 21, 2098
        Research board is desperate and is willing to let any team of not
more than six(6) competent men and women to explore Atomic Wasteland and
take any appropiate steps in stopping the disaster. Party's will be flown
in by chopter, and will be hoisted down to Main St of outpost for exploration.
Partys may return any time, and services will be available to partys for
resting, restocking, etc. when they return. Whoever solves this will be
greatly honored and paid handsomely.


Procedure --
        1) place write protect notch on both Atomic Wasteland disk and
           your Wizardry disk.
        2) copy scenario - proving grounds to blank disk.
        3) boot Atomic Wasteland 2098 disk. press space whenever it says
           to and you are ready to continue.
        4) respond 'Y' to query 'Have you made a copy yet?'
        5) respond with '1' or '2' depending on the number of drives you
           have.
        6) follow all disk swapping directions.
        7) when it is finished, you will have an Atomic Wasteland 2098
           scenario disk. use it as you would a proving grounds duplicate.
           it will not work as a master. All utilities will work on it.
